M813 (ex --) A HIKE TO GOMILA AND MAREĆICA FROM RAČJA VAS

This is a circular tour taking you to the gentle peaks of Gomila and Marećica offering broad vistas. The trails leads through forests and meadows and passes by sites of natural and historical heritage. The symbol (x) stands for crossroads of mountain trails. The abbreviation PP is short for mountain trail whereas the abbreviation IPP denotes Istrian mountain trail. If you are planning to go on this hike, we recommend you to use the 1:25000 Ćićarija hiking map issued by HGSS in 2015.

The trail starts on the 5014 road, in the centre of Račja Vas. Take PP 213 (north-east) and immediately turn onto PP 211. At the next (x), the trail starts ascending to your left along PP 212 until reaching the cave of Sv. Jelena. Take the same route back and proceed to the (x) PP in the pine tree forest. Go straight along PP 201-IPP which starts to gently ascend to Gomila (box, log book, stamp) passing the Ćićka fields and the foot of Vršić along the way. The peak of Gomila rises 1027 meters above sea level. Then the trail descends along PP 200-IPP and at the (x) turns left onto PP 210 leading to Rašpor. At the (x) located in the narrow street below the church, the trail turns right onto PP 240 which crosses the 5014 road and climbs to the (x) PP on the plateau of Kosmatica. This is where the trail turns left onto PP 241, leading to Vrtelj and then to the peak of Marećica rising 790 meters above sea level. The trail runs all the way to the square in Račja Vas, where your hike ends.

On the square in Račja Vas you will find a source of drinking water, just ask for the key at house across the road.
