Ivan Todorić Memorial

6th Memorial race

The memorial race winding through the areas of Valbandon and Štinjan, in the southern part of the Istrian peninsula, is held in September to commemorate Police Day and to honour the memory of a noble man, a dedicated police officer, whose name the race proudly bears.

Participants can choose between two recreational trail races:
The main trail is 11,300 meters long.
The recreational trail is 2,209 meters long.

Both races commence simultaneously from Valbandon. Participants in the recreational race turn around near the end of the Hidrobaza promenade and retrace their steps, while those in the main race continue along the road to the Štinjan fortresses of Punta Christo, Grosso, and Valmaggiore, before making their way back to Valbandon.

In addition to promoting a healthy lifestyle, the memorial race also embodies a humanitarian spirit, with all proceeds going to the Police Solidarity Foundation, which aids police officers in times of need. Ivan was a young and promising police officer from Pula, renowned for his dedicated service. Tragically, he lost his life on September 22, 2018, in a traffic accident while on his way to work, proudly wearing the police uniform he loved. The competition takes place in two categories, one for citizens and one for the police. The event is organized by the Istrian Police Department and the Istrian Athletic Association, with co-organizers being the Regional IPA Club of Istria, the BAK Istra Special Police Unit Association, and the Pula Tourist Board.
